Another busy day for the Westville group! We started the day at Ford's Theatre and then over to the Peterson house. http://www.fordstheatre.org/ This is my favorite part of the trip. Next we headed over the National Archives. http://www.archives.gov/dc-metro/washington/ It's good to know that the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence are safe! I was also happy that a couple of my students remembered who drafted the Declaration of Independence and who was the 1st person to sign it as well! In case the answers are right on the tip of your tongue and you just can't remember, Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence and John Adams was the first to sign it!
Next we went to the Air and Space Museum http://airandspace.si.edu/ and the American History Museum http://americanhistory.si.edu/. There's always something new to see at both of these places.
From there, we saw many of the memorials. World War II memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson, and the Iwo Jima Memorial.
We are back at the hotel. Some are sleeping, (Probably only the adults), some are blogging :-) and hopefully some are packing!
Here come the pictures!
